ROLLIN’ WITH FISH & CHIPS
“Who’s that? You missed…blah blah!”, a friend asked. (We were at the cinema; I left to take a call)
“I gotta go. My friend’s worried sick. The door’s locked and I got the house keys!”
I am now living in London with my best friend, studying Literature (what else?!) It’s a long way from my country. But so far everything is great.
I’ve heard so much about Europe, London in particular. (Hey! This is the birth place of Beatles, and of course William Shakespeare, Jane Austin, and Charles Dickens) I’m fascinated by the rich and vibrant history of Europe so I had no second thoughts when my folks asked where I want to study.
After all, this is the foundation of many civilizations. And where else in the world shall I learn the beauty of written word (Greece perhaps *next agenda). Living and studying here, in the great part of Europe, is an eye-opening experience. In the list of educational programs: summer, intern, volunteer, and language programs I finally chose on academic study. And boy! Was I in for a ride! After everything’s settled with my papers, at last I stepped on the land of fish and chips.
I’m embracing the rockin’ free lifestyle. I hunt great “hotspots” everyday. And as a student, I find the curriculum comprehensive, advanced, and challenging. It forces me to be a free-thinker, creative and uninhibited. I get to visit a lot of cool places and get to enjoy nightlife with other foreign students and the local Brits.
I have yet to hitch a ride on the double-decker bus. Got to hurry, my poor friend’s waiting.
SOAKING EUROPE
I’m scribbling down on my mini-notebook. Soaking everything in sight. I don’t want to miss a thing.
I am in Europe. Europe is undeniably a multi-cultural hub. The diverse ethnicities add flavor and distinct characteristic. The foundation of some oldest known civilizations that directly influenced and still affecting the way of living in U.S.A. and other neighboring countries. And that is hugely the motivation for me to study here.
I ‘m studying in Europe not only because the fee and quality of education are comparable to other countries but there are so many options for me, internationally-accredited and preeminent schools are here. (Most European colleges cost less than in U.S) Living is cost-effective too. I get to learn different cultures, try special foreign cuisines (and hear the funny comments of the locals *precious) and see amazing sceneries! And the best part of being here, given that Europe is made up of 50 countries, is that I get to take a trip in a couple of hours and not be surprised if I suddenly hear Mansi (I’m in a Russia!)
Studying anywhere in Europe, I get to have the best multicultural take on everything. A melting pot of interesting people and backgrounds, I have first hand experience and understanding of other lifestyles. Aside from that, getting a degree in Europe will assure me of a lot of opportunities.
In a few months, I’ll be heading home. But I know that Europe will always be a part of me wherever I go.
EUROPE EUREKA
“I wish I don’t have to leave home. I’m content as it is here…”
(That’s what my mom wants to hear from me) But unlucky for her, I am born with wanderlust, a thirst for adventure and culture.
I am enthralled with Europe. I fell in love with it long, long time ago. So exploring and studying in Europe is not an option but a must! I went here initially just to have a good time and (okay, visit some of my relatives) but who wouldn’t grab a chance to study here right?
love studying in Europe because THIS is where everything happens! I have been to U.S before, but Europe has something magical hold on me. Maybe because I am so used to typical American lifestyle (which by the way most traditions and way of life there originated here) but Europe is unique on its own. Yeah there are some pretty weird places but where’s my sense of fun and adventure if I don’t get to get down and try them?!
Foods (some say grotesque I say “yum!), breathtaking sceneries (good thing my Digicam stays with me everywhere I go), beautiful, fascinating cultures, and lifestyle..? (so far so good!). But I really wanted to learn and study here.
There are so countless options for me. A lot of pioneering schools and universities are here. Even if there are a few obviously popular choices especially to a city girl like me, I asked around and browsed in the net to check out some interesting courses (a degree in Actuarial Science, anyone?) Seriously, I enrolled in one of the prestigious universities here. It’s a tough choice but I made it.
Dare I say, I want to stay here for good (if I can, but I’m sure my mom will raise hell!)
